Scituate MA
Harbour Lights #166

When production of Scituate and a few other lighthouses was switched from Malaysia to China in late 1997, a significant change was made to the production mold.

The Scituate change replaced the walkway platform, the railing, the lantern room and the lantern room roof -- everything from the walkway platform up was redone. Most noticeable is the walkway railing. On the Malaysian pieces, the railing is molded of resin and it is painted the same blue as the top of the lighthouse and the floor of the walkway. The railings are painted to look open, but they are not. On the Chinese pieces, the railing is made of pewter and is added on to the piece after it is cast. The railing and walkway are painted black on the Chinese version. Chinese pieces have the serial numbers #6459 and higher while #6458 and below were made in Malaysian. This means about 68% of the 9,500 run was made in Malaysian and 32% was made in China.
