Modification Information

Assateague VA
Harbour Lights #145

The original mold Assateague had to be completely resculpted after the master mold from which it was created was accidentally dropped and broken.

A number of features distinguish the resculpted version on the right:

  • Missing chimney in the small outbuilding (right in the photograph)
  • Additional tree behind the lighthouse tower (left of tower in the photograph)
  • Addition of 'railing' around the catwalk below the lantern room
  • The base of the resculpted lighthouse is also 'thicker'
  • Addition of raised lintels and sills on the windows in the lighthouse tower and attached building (not easily seen in photo)

Less than 990 pieces were made using the original mold while the balance of the 5,500 issue piece was made from the second mold. The original mold Assateague commands a significantly higher price in the secondary market.
