Mark Sherman's creations in pastels, oils, and watercolors reveal his wide range of interests and talents. A Brooklyn-born artist, who studied at the Art Student's League in New York, and in California with Rex Brandt and Joseph Mugnaini, Mark's paintings have appeared in juried exhibitions and are included in many private and corporate collections. Now retired, Mark was most recently a professor at California School of Professional Psychology, instructing a studio art class as part of the university's humanities program. Mark enjoys traveling with his family and many of his transparent watercolors are inspired by North American and European landscape and architecture. He has long admired our nation's lighthouses, and so it came as no surprise that he chose Point Loma, located only a few miles from his home, as the subject of his first lighthouse watercolor. Harbour Lights commissioned Mark to create more than 50 lighthouse watercolors for our annual calendars from 1995-1999 and in 2002. We've also used his beautiful images for framed prints, note cards, bookmarks, screensavers, and many other uses.
