As Germany’s largest coastal town, Bremerhaven is a bustling center of commerce and an exciting port of call.

In 1827, residents of the city of Bremen founded this new port town, creating a two-city state, the only one of its kind in Germany. Shipbuilders flocked to the deep-water harbor and international trade flourished in the new town. The temperate climate of this central European locale has only strengthened the growth of Bremerhaven. As a result, the increase in traffic created a need for lighthouses along the coast. 

The majestic, castle-like lighthouse in Bremerhaven has an amazing architecture and unique appearance, making the sentinel an unforgettable sight. Reminiscent of ancient fortresses and historic architecture, Bremerhaven lighthouse proudly welcomes all travelers to its homeland of Germany.
