 Liberty
Enlightening The World
New York
Harbour
Lights Limited Edition #627
"Life, Liberty, and the
Pursuit of Happiness." Each emotional word is synonymous with the
lovely Lady Liberty. Liberty Enlightening the World has stood as a symbol
of freedom, perseverance, and friendship for more than 100 years.
A gift from the French people, the
statue was an active Aid to Navigation for 17 years -- from 1886 to 1903
-- under the
U.S. Lighthouse Board. A lightkeeper was kept on the island to
maintain the electric light which could be seen through windows in the
torch in Liberty's outstretched arm.
Liberty will be
available for orders during the 2000 calendar year. The edition quantity
will be limited to orders received in one year.
Liberty comes with a commemorative brass coin, and an expanded history.
The history is a reprint of the 2 part US Lighthouse Society article about
the history of the Statue of Liberty as a lighthouse. The sculpture
will also be accompanied by a Collector Card Booklet and a reprint of the
turn of the last century lighthouse collector card showing the
statue. Different cards were randomly placed in other 2000
introductions which may then be placed in the Collector Card Booklet.
