Old Field Point NY

Old Field Point, New York
Harbour Lights #707
Christmas 1998

Standing near a windswept bluff on the northern Long Island coast, this handsome stone tower still beckons to sailors. Old Field Point Light marked the western entrance to Port Jefferson Harbor from 1868 until 1933 when a skeleton tower replaced the station. Then in 1991, the beacon was reactivated, much to the delight of local residents and historians.

HL# Flag Name MSRP Intro Retired Edition
707 Christmas 1998* $80   8/1998** 10,000

* Bottom label reads "Old Field Point NY" and is numbered on the bottom label. ** Society members were given a one-month window in which to reserve this lighthouse prior to introduction; because this piece was placed on allocation, it effectively was sold out when introduced.

Originally produced with a leafless tree, the tree proved to fragile to properly ship to dealers. A snow-dusted evergreen tree was designed and produced to take the place of the pewter tree. The swap was made on all 10,000 pieces by the Harbour Lights art staff during September, 1998.
