Point Betsie MI

Point Betsie, Michigan
Harbour Lights #218

Standing just 37 feet tall, Point Betsie Light was built in 1858 to mark a key turning point for ships entering or leaving the Manitou Passage on Lake Michigan. One of the last Great Lakes' beacons to be automated, the station was manned until 1983. The Coast Guard is currently in the process of selling or leasing the keeper's dwelling as surplus property. There is a window of opportunity here for a non-profit organization to rescue the historic structure.
